A soap opera is radio or television serial and the term “Soap Opera” is originated from radio dramas that were sponsored by soap manufacturers. The first ever soap opera that was aired in 1950 was The Archers by BBC Radio and it is the world’s longest-running radio soap opera. Also the world’s longest television soap opera is Coronation Street that was first broadcast on ITV in 1960 and is still running.

    The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) is an American television soap opera created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. It premiered on March 23, 1987, as a sister show to the Bells’ other soap opera The Young and the Restless; several characters from each of the two shows have crossed over to the other since the early 1990s. Set in Los Angeles, California, the show centers upon the Forrester family and their fashion house business Forrester Creations.

It is one of the longest-running scripted television programs in the world, airing nearly every weekday since November 8, 1965. Due to the series’ success, it was expanded from 30 minutes to 60 minutes on April 21, 1975.

Concurrently, it is the world’s third longest-running scripted drama series in production after British serials The Archers and Coronation Street, as well as the world’s second-longest-running televised soap opera still in production.
